UTAH BIODIESEL COOPERATIVE - Joining UBC

The Utah Biodiesel Cooperative offers something to everyone!

How Much Commitment?
Because everyone lives their lives at their own pace, members of UBC can participate as much as or as little as they like. Our goal is simply to increase the use of biodiesel, whether you buy it, brew it yourself, or become part of a group of fellow biodiesel users and brew it collectively.

UBC tries to get together every two months as a group, and individual interactions between some members (mostly to brew biodiesel together) happens often.  We also offer seminars, get togethers, and other educational events regularly. There are no attendance requirements and all events/meetings/etc are strictly optional.

What does Membership exactly "mean?" - Do I own anything after I join?
UBC is not a traditional cooperative though we pay host to a slew of what we call "cooperative-like" activities. We are a non-profit organization so you do not own any part of UBC though membership does allow you a vote on major decisions and the future of UBC. Our goal is that you take from UBC what you would like, if it involves simply getting a discount by using our membership card or if you wish to engage in more traditional-like cooperative activities of pooling labor, resources, etc. However we must be clear that you do not have to join a cooperative to brew biodiesel and in fact many brewers are just fine completely on their own. See our about us page and you can read about our the three different categories of membership.

How Much Does It Cost?
We offer two types of memberships, personal and business. Memberships are paid on an annual basis and expire 1 year from the quarter in which they were paid.

Each paid member recieves a membership card. Business members can purchase up to 3 additional membership cards for $15.00 a peice. If lost, a replacement card can also be purchased for $10.00.

What Are The Requirements?
Our only requirements for membership are that you pay the yearly membership dues and that you abide by the Utah Biodiesel Cooperative By-Laws.

What Does Becoming A Member Do? Becoming a member means joining a small network of other people who have the same interest as you.  In turn, this means cheaper homebrewing supplies, cheaper biodiesel, discounted seminars, a support group, and a small community to communicate with about biodiesel, mechanics, or whatever else you would like.

Membership also means having access to discounted biodiesel, supplies, and seminars.
